Education, not medical advice

The content on this site is general patient education. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for a consultation with a clinician who has examined you and knows your history. In particular, nothing here can tell you whether the change in your own face is a loss of volume, a descent of tissue or a change in the surface of the skin, and that is the first thing an assessment establishes.

A class that cannot be dissolved

Injected collagen has no dissolving agent. Nothing placed can be neutralised or removed by an injection, and the options if a result is unwanted are limited and later. This is stated wherever a course is described on this site because it changes how the first session should be planned, and because a reader who does not know it cannot give informed consent to the treatment.

Gradual and temporary results

The change from this class is gradual and it is not lasting. The material is absorbed over months, the rate varies between people, and no duration or interval described on this site is a promise about your own case. Where this site describes a typical course, it describes a range drawn from general experience rather than a commitment.

When to seek care urgently

After any injection, severe pain out of proportion to the procedure, or tissue turning white, grey, mottled or dusky, requires immediate assessment. Any change in vision requires emergency care. A lump, firmness or a change in contour appearing months after a session should be reported when it appears rather than at the next scheduled appointment. Do not wait for a review visit.
